-- Getting "off book," and a key phrase.
-- Coming Next Month

Last month, we complained of advice that amounts to "Just do it!" We like step-by-step specifics all the way down to scripting short, key phrases. This month, a fellow consultant and friend who shares our philosophy, Danny Bobrow, offers a golden nugget of his own!

At Office Magic, we stand behind our learning resources because we know they describe exactly what to do, step-by-step, and exactly the words to say to achieve your office goals in a way that keeps your patients thrilled.

Getting "off book," and a key phrase.
Getting "off book" is a phrase used by actors to describe the process of memorizing one's lines so well that you can read them without reference to the printed script. More importantly, it means you are in a position to concentrate instead on breathing life and meaning into them.

Think about the most memorable scene from a movie. Whether it is Scarlett O'Hara, Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz, Stanley Kowalski, Marlon Brando, or whomever, each of these performers began by memorizing words on a piece of paper.

Absorb the benefits to the caller in this key phrase you should share with your team!
"Would you mind if I place you on hold for just a moment, so I can get to my desk, and give you my undivided attention?"

Whenever requesting anything of a patient, explain the benefit to the patient.

And when you must place anyone on hold, you can shorten the perceived waiting time -- and buy yourself some time tp prepare for the all-important caller! -- with a professional on hold message system. Your message can be entertaining, show how much you care, and even help the patient forget that he called originally to compare your fees!

Because you only get one chance to make a good first impression!

The last issue of 2012 will contain something great.

We just don't know what it is yet.
